The construction and design of the mechanism is comfortable, elegant and precise. It is hand fashioned from sterling silver or karat gold. It is exquisitely delicate in appearance, while retaining the strength and durability necessary to guarantee a minimum of adjustment throughout the life of the flute. The keywork functions in a quiet, solid manner indicative of the care invested in the padding process. Your choice of pad style combined with traditional padding methodes ensures longevity of pad life and exceptional response.

The Williams Wooden Flute. Jacques Zoon reintroduced the wooden flute to the Boston Symphony Orchestra during his tenure there as solo flutist. He has developed both a unique scale and mechanism which when combined with the flute making talents of the Williams flute shop have resulted in a remarkably superior instrument. This wooden flute marks the begining of an ongoing collaboration between Zoon and Williams, from which several new key mechanisms and scale variation will emerge. Crafted from aged grenadilla wood with sterling silver or 14k gold mechanism. To complement these instruments, Williams Flutes is proud to introduce a line of wooden headjoints in various hardwood combinations. The Williams wood headjoint is designed to fit either the wooden flute or a traditional metal flute barrel, affording the flutist versatility both in sound and application. © David Williams 2004
